Reece Smith is a 24-year-old filmmaker from Western Sydney whose passion for creative media has been a driving force since his youth. This early enthusiasm evolved into a love for writing during high school, eventually leading him to explore filmmaking with friends. In 2022, Smith began his formal journey in film, enrolling in a Bachelor of Film Production at SAE. During his studies, he has worked on several significant projects, expanding his skillset across various aspects of filmmaking. He served as Director of Photography and editor for “We Were Kids Together” (O’Halloran, 2023), and later as gaffer and colourist on “Kids Don’t Cry” (O’Halloran, 2023). In 2023, Smith directed his own documentary, “Remember Sydney” (Smith, 2023), for which he also created posters. In the same year, he worked as Director of Photography for a music video featuring the artist ‘The Rarest Joy’. Now, in 2024, Smith has recently completed his latest directorial venture, “The Eternal Anguish of Eli Ash” (Smith, 2024), showcasing his ability to bring complex narratives to life on screen.
