Dylan, který je němý, se s otcem Michaelem přestěhují do nového domu. V jedné z místností Dylan najde zaprášené zrcadlo a starou knihu obsahující pokyny k vyvolání džina. Jednou v noci nechá Michael Dylana doma, Dylan využije příležitosti a připraví rituál k přivolání džina a pomocí znakové řeči si přeje, aby byl schopen normálně mluvit. Později se džin projeví jako oblak kouře a poté, co dojde k řadě podivných událostí, Dylan zjistí, že se džin změnil v humanoidní postavu a hledá ho. Dylan, není schopen uprchnout z domu ani kontaktovat kohokoli o pomoc. A tak je chlapec uvězněn v bytě se džinem, který rozhodně neplní dobrá přání.
